Sub-Group: Planetary Science group

The Planetary Science group covers an exciting study of planets in the Solar System. By using numerical simulations and various spacecraft observations, it focuses on planetary atmospheres. The prime analysis of this research is on Mars' atmosphere, where we have expert command in planetary climate modeling, data assimilation, the dust cycle, and other physical processes relevant to Mars' lower atmosphere and climate conditions. Alongside Mars, the group also studies giant planet atmospheres, geophysical fluid dynamics, utilizing and analyzing data from laboratory experiments, satellites and space probes.

Moreover, its vision is to enhance and encourage proficiency in planetary science within the UAE region by collaborating with academic candidates in many research activities which later on practically transformed into successful projects.

Some of the examples are successful projects with internationally renowned research organizations such as Oxford University in the UK, the Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique in Paris, France, the Space Science Institute in Boulder (CO), USA, the ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter ACS instrument team, and Aeolis Research in Pasadena, CA, USA.
